Three Poems

Alan Schonfeld

Consciousness...

Our true Consciousness
is much like
a never-ending meditation...
occasionally interrupted
by periods of unconsciousness...

Alan Schonfeld

Presence...

When our mantras
are no longer needed...
and when our meditations
have completed their purpose...
what is left...
is a Presence of Being...
that radiantly glows...
unaided by any practice or ritual
whose indispensability
was previously imagined....

Alan Schonfeld

Repentance...

Repentance can be described as the process,
by which, as we progress along the path,
and look back from whence we came...
we lovingly forgive ourselves for any perceived " detours"...
that we may have made along the way...
and, at the same time...
realize, with gratitude, that each and every "wrong turn"...
was absolutely necessary...
as an important stepping stone...
on our journey towards home...
